Reviews As a Georgia native, soul food can easily be taken for granted. Something as simple as home made sweet tea has always just "been there" for a Georgia boy like myself. As a Georgia native, soul food can easily be taken for granted. Something as simple as home made sweet tea has always just "been there" for a Georgia boy like myself. Occasionally, I take business trips to Virginia, and one thing that gets on my nerves is when I go to restaurants and they do not have sweet tea. Often times the waiter/waitress looks at me like I'm from the Bible belt or something. (haha) A friend of mine (who formerly lived in Georgia) told me about this place called Dixie Bones. He mentioned that the owner is from Alabama, and it is a family owned restaurant that serves southern specialties. And boy was he right! They serve everything from sweet tea to collard greens, grandma's fried chicken to that oh-so scrumptious pie. Magnificent restaurant! *****ratin Food Rating [10/10] Service Rating [8/10] Ambiance Rating [8/10] Good Eatin! Its been over a year since I moved out here to the West Coast and this weekend I'm flying back for a 3-day visit with friends in Annapolis, MD. We've already planned -two- 1 hr treks out to Dixie Bones. Once with the Marylanders and once with some friends of mine from New York who are driving down. If that ain't a recommendation then I don't know what is! Still, it's a good restaurant. Generally you get more meaty ribs than you do at a lot of places. Dixie Bones has the best tasting chicken also a much larger portion. Also Dixie Bones has very large side dishes and a huge amount of fries. When you order them all at reasonable price. Outstanding. Also nice clear, safe restaurant and area around it. We compared Dixie Bones to a number of Latino/Mex places over their chicken dish. In my opinion it's the best BBQ in the metro DC area. Only place that can touch it is Smoker's in Ocean City, MD, but that's not a fair comparison since Dixie is a full-service restaurant. Check it out if you're in the area and don't waste your time on Famous Dave's, Red Hot & Blue, or Rocklands. It was total chance to stumble across Dixie Bones, and we almost didn't go in...but we were glad we did! Great service, good homestyle cooking, ribs that fell off the bones, etc. While returniong to NC from a trip "Up North" we pulled off the interstate to find a quick place to eat.
