ReviewsMemorable Dinner My wife and I had dinner at the Smithfield Inn on Friday, August 31, 2001 for our 33rd wedding anniversary. I do not remember where we had dinner on the 3rd, 13th or 23rd anniversary but I will remmeber the 33rd because the service was the worst I have ever experienced. We waited for almost 15 minutes before the hostess asked if we had been waited on. There were three service personnel and the dining area was not crowded--about 3 tables per waiter. The wait staff was entirely indifferent. Upon finishing the meal we were asked if we wanted dessert but coffee or after dinner drinks were not offered. In fact when we declined dessert the only comment was I'll get your check--the check was the only thing that arrived promptly. The soups were outstanding, my wifes entree (crab stuffed shrimp)was overcooked, my entree (tuna and salmon) was superb.
