ReviewsService Excellence @ its BEST On 10/06/01 after spending the night @ the Comfort Inn my wife and I decided to try the Aunt Sarah's Pancake House @ 5426 Jefferson Davis Hwy. Fredricksburg, Va. 22407 for breakfast. We couldn't have made a better choice. While busy, the manager and his entire staff demonstrated Service Excellence at it's BEST. It was evident they lived the coporate ploedge to service excellence. The best example I can give you was the manager walking out of the kitchen area as a bus boy was entering. Without skipping a beat the manager quietly said to the bus boy a wet spot needed to be mopped up. The manager kept on going to attend to other customers. The bus boy immediately put down the try he was carrying and mopped up the wet area. He never once exhibited an attiude nor mumbled nothing. He took care of the assignment and returned to his duties. As the Director of Behavioral Health Service at a small rural hospital in Pa. service excellence and customer satisfaction is something I am always aware of and look to borrow ideas and approaches. The service was surperb, the food abundant, tasty and reasonably priced. I only hope I can achieve the success your manager had achieved. Once we arrived at restaurant, we waited for approximately 10 minutes before anyone approached from the kitchen. We asked about the special Anniversary dinner and was shown a dirty menu card. I ordered the 3 pc fried chicken, w/mashed potatoes and green beans. I was told it would be about 10 minutes because the chicken was fresh. After about 25 minutes, the waitress came by with 2 rolls and said to eat on this while we waited. Another 15 minutes and our dinners arrived. However, I only got 2 pieces of chicken and I asked where the third piece was since I ordered the 3 piece. I was informed that the computer would not let the waitress enter the 3 piece, only the 2 piece.....She would either take $.30 off my bill or I could wait until another waitress arrived to cook the other piece. The green beans were cold. I never saw that waitress again. After another 20 or so minutes, a different waitress approached and filled my husband's glass. When I asked about the chicken, I was told she would have to see my check to see what I ordered. At last came time for the anniversary cake. Again they had to check my bill to see if I was entitled to the cake. I explained that we were there for the anniversary dinner and the cake was to come with the dinner. Finally they reluctantly gave us cake. It was right from the refridgerator, dry and not fit to eat. When I went to pay the check, I was charged for the meal individually, chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans. The cashier argued with me that all he could do was key into the computer/register what the waitress had written on the check. Needless to say, this was a very disappointing visit to this establishment, and I have doubts as to whether I would return. Now, I think I've gone for the last time. It's very sad to see how far down the food and service has gone. I just went to one near Fredericksburg, VA, but we've been to others. In the last few years, the decline of Aunt Sarah's has been steady. Slow service with NO personality, the food sucks the once coveted orange juice no longer interests me. They've stopped getting their orange juice from Florida, so I was told by a waitress. If they haven't noticed, Cracker Barrel is taking over and well deserved. They took a note from the old Aunt Sarah's and turned it up a notch. My advice to Aunt Sarah - go back to the way you used to do business or you'll be out of business in 5 years. The food was cold, had to ask for syrup for the pancakes, couldnt get a refill on coffee and when I asked to see the manager, he/she? sent out an employee to see what I wanted. Could he/she have been afraid to face a customer? Aunt Sarah's is off my list of places to eat! Tried breakfast at Aunt Sarahs yesterday morning. Aunt Sarah's Pancake House @ 5426 Jefferson Davis Hwy. Fredricksburg, Va. 22407. On Saturday, the 21st of June 2002, I had the misfortune of eating at the Aunt Sarah's Pancake House on Jefferson Davis Hwy in Fredericksburg, VA. Upon entering the establishment, our presence wasn't acknowledged with the exception of a glance by the manager on duty. After waiting for 5 minutes to be seated we were finally escorted to a table that was filthy. At this time I noticed a clean table and informed the manager we would sit at the clean table instead of waiting for the other table to be cleaned. After another 8 - 10 minutes we were finally greeted(?) by the server who took our orders. She had to return very shortly to inform us that they didn't have any orange juce. However, it was noted that upon entering the restraurant, the manager on duty was more interested in feeding the orange juice squeezer than meeting and seating her customers. During this time it was noted that 3 parties entered the restraurant and then departed without even waiting to be greeted and served. This wasn't because the restraurant was crowded as it was far from this. It was because of the attitude and lack of customer service that was displayed by the employees. When the food arrived we didn't even have silverware. So we had to ask for silverware. In the mean time our food continued to get cold. The quality of the food was average. It might have been better if it had been hot when it arrived. It is obvious that the folks who work here are only here because they need the money. They have NO personality, no idea as to what customer service is and display the attitude that they really dont care if you eat there or not. I would not recommend to anyone stopping at this Aunt Sarah's Pancake House. Drive down the road a ways and I'm sure you find an establishment that would be more than happy to have your business.
