ReviewsAuthentic South Indian Food A friend who is well-traveled in India took me out to this restaurant the other night. He assured me that the food was as authentic as anything he had ever experienced in the south of India. Since he is the current author of the Lonely Planet "Rough Guide to India", I appreciated his suggestions as to what to order and how to eat it. We enjoyed the Medhu Vada, fried lentil donuts that we dipped in spicy red and cool green coconut sauces. The taste reminded me of hush puppies without onions. This was followed by an enormous Masala Dosai, a two-foot long crisp thin crepe folded in half over a generous filling of potatoes and onions. The subtle flavorings reminded me of a homemade southern Virginia Brunswick stew without the tomatoes. We both enjoyed our meal and left feeling satisfied and nourished, as the other mostly Indian patrons seemed to do as well A friend who is well-traveled in India took me out to this restaurant the other night.
