ReviewsStudent Haven Banzai is on what UT students (and most of the rest of the Austin population) call the drag. It's a mile stretch of Guadalupe that runs next to the university and is filled with funky boutiques and bookstores. Despite the large painted sign on the top, it's easy to miss while walking along with the hoards of students. Once you are inside, you are transported to Tokyo, where you're near a sister university, filled with Asian students. Professors and students mix in this small eatery. The menu is on the wall and you order at the counter. If you can find a place to sit, your food is brought to you, with chopsticks. I personally love this, and hate the dreaded gaijin fork other restaurants usually bring with your meal. The food is incredible as well. I've brought punk rock bands from Japan in to eat at Banzai, and they verify the taste of home. Banzai is on what UT students (and most of the rest of the Austin population) call the drag.
