ReviewsSeafood, Eat It My in-laws took us here for dinner while we visited them in Oregon. From the outside the restaurant looks unprepossessing - like many fish shacks you see on the coast. My in-laws took us here for dinner while we visited them in Oregon. From the outside the restaurant looks unprepossessing - like many fish shacks you see on the coast. Inside it is nicely decorated and the main dining area is all glass to look out from the cliff's edge to the Pacific Ocean. And the Pacific Ocean in the Northwest is waves hitting rough rocks - far different from the Baywatch beaches of southern California. I ordered a seafood medley in a tomato Cajun sauce. Scallops, prawns, halibut with some vegetables. Rice pilaf was on the side. My wife ordered the same dish with the garlic butter sauce. My Cajun sauce was fine but got a little peppery tasting over time. The garlic butter was the better preparation for this dish. But both were excellent. My mother-in-law ordered crabcakes and these were excellent. Made with dungeness crabs, not king crab. I noticed there is a bit of snobbery in the area over the superiority of dungeness crab - and rightly so. There was a wine list but we ordered no drinks for this dinner. The bottle wine started at about $25 and went from there. The descriptions sounded very nice but perhaps another time I can explore that. Wine by the glass included Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet. Coffee was a fine dark French roast that took the chill off the outside winds. Service was fine but sometimes seemed a little preoccupied. I've been a regular guest at Tidal Raves for the better part of ten years and I've never been disappointed. Storm or shine, the view is absolutely spectacular. The view alone is worth the price of whatever you choose on the menu. In the summer you can do some whale watching from the dining room. It's incredible! Storm or shine, the view is absolutely spectacular. The view alone is worth the price of whatever you choose on the menu. In the summer you can do some whale watching from the dining room. It's incredible! But, hey! Let's talk about the food! Versatile and eclectic without getting too far out... The cioppino is velvety smooth and rich, chock full of a fine variety of fresh seafood... The "Pasta Rave" will give a nice variety, too with a choice of mouthwatering sauces. It's almost too much food! Try one of the specialty breads... like an open faced sandwich, the Seahawk Bread is laden with bay shrimp, smoked salmon, cream cheese, creamy havarti, red onions and capers and broiled to crunchy perfection... great with a full bodied Oregon micro-brew like Full Sail Amber Ale. Try one of the ethnic-based dishes like the Thai BBQ Tiger Shrimp with pan noodles, Oysters Santa Fe, spicy on a bed of black beans! Or one of my personal favorites, Rockshrimp with creamy pesto over polenta ... mmmmmmm ... with mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes, it is out-of-this-world! OK, Ok, I could go on and on... Suffice it to say that you could eat here for a month and not get tired of it! Matter of fact you'd probably just "RAVE" on! One thing, though, the portions are generous, so be prepared. Maybe quit eating early, take some of your meal home (they always provide "to-go" boxes!) and have some dessert! The peach sorbet with the raspberry citrus sauce is outrageous! The chocolate-orange truffle cake defines "chocolate" and when accompanied by a glass of Bonny Doon Framboise is enough to send your taste buds into orbit! If it's your birthday, they'll treat you to one of their plate sized chocolate chunk cookies fresh out of the oven and topped with Tillamook Creameries' Vanilla bean ice cream... Oh yeah! Did I mention that the wine selection is very thoughtfully picked out for outstanding taste, quality and value? Featured wines run from around $17.00 per bottle up to about $25.00. If you're celebrating something special (or not!) you can enjoy one of the finest French Champagnes in the world. Try a bottle of Veuve Cliquot. It's fabulous and barely more than you'd pay for it in the wine section of your local grocery (if they even have it!)...$48.00! WOW! Spectacular view, delicious, plentiful cuisine, friendly, attentive service, reasonably priced. How much better could it possibly get? They are open for lunch and dinner from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, seven days a week from February till the end of December (the restaurant is closed in January) and closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Don't miss it when you're on the Oregon Coast! You might even consider a special trip! From anywhere! It's worth it! Call for reservations! 541-765-299 Food Rating [10/10] Service Rating [8/10] Ambiance Rating [10/10] I Love this Place My wife and I have traveled the Oregon coast extensively over the past 8 years and we've never missed an opportunity to dine at Tidal Raves. Not only is the view spectacular and unique every meal that we've had there has been delicious and memorable. Our personal favourite is the Captain's Platter for two. I had read and heard so much about this place that I figured the specials must be spectacular. I tried the Thai Salmon with Pan Noodles. It was awful. The Salmon had very little flavor and was very greasy; same with the noodles. Our waiter was very aloof and seemed to cringe when we ordered an appetizer that was deep fried. The appetizer of deep fried halibut, shrimp, and oysters, turned out to be the best part of the meal. The bus person was the most personable and we tipped him accordingly.
