ReviewsBest Bar-B-Qd Mutton on Earth An original secret "black" sauce from a fifth generation family tradition creates barbequed meats that are one-of-kind delicious. Various meats are available but the specialty is mutton. In a city that touts an "International Bar-B-Q Festival", you have to be good to get noticed. This is the best. It's all about the "Q" here, nothing else matters. An original secret "black" sauce from a fifth generation family tradition creates barbequed meats that are one-of-kind delicious. There are other barbecue restaurants in town but Old Hickory is the best. I grew up there and was nearly an adult before I realized "barbecue" and "mutton" were not always the same thing! I live in England now, but every year make at least one trip back home and always have at least one meal there. There are other barbecue restaurants in town but Old Hickory is the best. As a native of the town, I have grown up eating at all of the different restaurants and now exclusively go to Old Hickory. The mutton and burgoo alone are worth the 3 hour drive home from college.
