Reviews The City Grille is an interesting story of a restaurant's evolution in Bloomington. It started out as a Damon's, but due to Bloomington's peculiar laws was not allowed to have a smoking section, which caused it to go out of business in jus a couple of years. The building was then bought by the guy who owns Yogi's, who had an idea that an upscale grill was just the thing that Bloomington needed. With no vegetarian options and a pricing scale two or three times what any IU student can afford, that concept died quicker than an A.J. Guyton drive to the hoop. Now it's another sports bar, back to the pool table/giant screen TV/cheap beer formula that's a sure winner in a college town. Now it's another sports bar, back to the pool table/giant screen TV/cheap beer formula that's a sure winner in a college town. That said, it retains a lot of the elegance of its history. The main dining room is large and generally fairly quiet. The food has a little more variety than burgers and fries, and the booths are spacious and comfortable. The vegetarian options aren't extensive, but they exist, and I always leave the restaurant with the feeling that I really ate too much. I can't say I've sampled much of the food, but the variety seems good and the appetizers are very good. A good place to go for a Saturday evening.
