Sushi Nami just opened in 2002, one of several new Asian-themed restaurants to open recently on Windward Parkway. It shares the same building as Xian Chinese restaurant. The dining area and tables are fairly plain but comfortable. There was nothing special about the decor, but nothing irritating, either. Prices for a la carte sushi were mostly $3.95 to $5.95, which include 6-piece rolls and 2-piece selections of tuna, salmon, clam, and the like. Combination specials range $6 to $10 and include soup or salad. When my order arrived, I was struck by the large size of the salmon pieces - the largest of any sushi restaurant I've been to. The flavor and texture was excellent. The tuna in the tuna rolls was a bit strong for me, but I often find that the case, so it is probably just me. The food was served on wooden slabs, as is often the case. There was wasabi and ginger, but no other garnish or attempt at visual appeal.
