Top : United_States : DC : Washington : Al TiramisuAl Tiramisu offers a splendid selection of both traditional and innovative dishes for those with a discriminating taste in Italian cuisine. Specials include fresh fish, porcini mushrooms, white truffle, risotto and homemade pasta. The restaurant is famous for its fish: the catch of the day is presented on a large platter by your waiter or by Chef Luigi himself, for you to choose, on any given day, Dover sole from the English Channel, pompano from the Gulf of Mexico, Chilean seabass, or branzino and orata flown directly from Italy. The fish is served grilled, with a touch of olive oil and lemon to bring out its flavor, and accompanied by asparagus and potatoes. Appetizers include, among others, sea scallops, smoked tuna carpaccio, calamari, and grilled portobello mushrooms. For salad, you can try fresh mozzarella and tomato with basil, or fennel and orange. Entrees are divided into pastas and meat dishes. Pastas are homemade and served al dente, with tomato or other traditional Italian sauces. The meats include duck with balsamic vinegar and honey sauce, beef tenderloin with wine sauce, and veal scaloppine with Parma ham. There are also vegetarian alternatives, like risotto with radicchio and cheese, angel hair pasta with vegetables, penne pasta with sundried tomatoes and goat cheese, and ricotta dumplings with fresh cherry tomato sauce.Coat/tie suggested. 2014 P St NW Washington DC United States 20036 Telephone : 202.467.4466 Opening Times : Weekdays noon - 2:30 pm, 5 pm - 11 pm; Weekends 5 pm - 11 pm

ReviewsI never knew Italian food like this was possible! We were lucky we ducked into Al Tiramisu's warm, cozy atmosphere early - they managed to squeeze us in even without reservations. We were lucky we ducked into Al Tiramisu's warm, cozy atmosphere early - they managed to squeeze us in even without reservations. Foccaccia was served with a tasty chopped olive paste. We started with the calamari appetizer: a tender breaded, skewered slice of calamari over arugula (no tentacles). One bite and we knew we'd be eternally grateful to the friend who recommended this place. Next I tried the duck with honey and balsalmic vinegar. The tangy, sweet sauce was exactly what I was looking for, and the sliced duck breast was moist and tender. The accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection. We finished with tiramisu, of course. It was accompanied with a puddle of rich cream sauce drizzed with berry sauce. Like everything else we tried, it was delicious. Service was excellent. Every plate was cleared away as soon as we finished. Our waiter never rushed us, but was always available soon as we were ready for the next course. Food arrived hot from the kitchen, with beautiful presentation Food Rating [10/10] Service Rating [10/10] Ambiance Rating [8/10]
