Reviews

Just your ordinary post-apocalyptic Italian

Primi Piatti's gimmick is a construction site-like setting, with exposed girders and waitstaff in orange hazmat jumpsuits. The trendy setting, cheerful staff, and large portions distract attention from the essential ordinariness of the pasta itself. Primi Piatti's gimmick is a construction site-like setting, with exposed girders and waitstaff in orange hazmat jumpsuits. The trendy setting, cheerful staff, and large portions distract attention from the essential ordinariness of the pasta itself. A carbonara-like pasta succumbed to the gluiness that plagues uninspired alfredo sauces. It was rib-sticking, not necessarily a good thing for pasta to be. Lone diners beware: non-pasta appetizer portions are too large to tackle alone. All in all, nothing was actively wrong with Primi Piatti, but it's no substitute for a trip to Rome.
