Reviews Congratulations, top quality at all. Congratulations, top quality at all. Food Rating [10/10] Service Rating [10/10] Ambiance Rating [10/10] Bacchus is situated in the Mdina bastions. It is a cosy and intimate restaurant, with a small wine bar area and a slightly larger dining area. The decor is in touch with the place, you can find antique Maltese heraldic coat-of-arms, small battle arms and iron lanterns. The wine-bar tables are old wine barrels halves. In summer it has alfresco dining on the bastions. Bacchus has a wide ranging wine list, mostly French and Italian wines, though there is a good selection of "new world" wines. The food is simply superb. For starters I had a prawn and tarragon soup, my partner had Tortellini ai Tre Formaggi, both starters are recommended. Our maincourses were two peppered fillet steaks: the well-done steak, was done well but not over-done, it was still moist, succulent and tender; I asked for mine to be cooked to medium-rare, and it was perfect. It had just the right amount of pinkness without rivers of blood. As usual, the accompanying vegetables and roast potatoes, cooked the maltese way (just like Mum does!!)were delectable. All this was washed down with an impressive Barolo (blessed Marchese di Barolo!) Unfortunately we did not have any space left for desserts, so we opted for just coffee instead. The service is discreet, efficient and helpful, you hardly put the wine-glass down than the server comes to re-fill it. Bacchus is situated in the Mdina bastions.
